What usually goes wrong, in order of how often:
- The question is a topic, not a question. "Renewable energy in Germany" is a subject heading. A question has an answer somebody could disagree with.
- Too broad for the word count. If it would take a book, it will take a bad essay.
- No sources you can actually reach. Especially for anything needing archives, interviews or paywalled data.
- Wrong subject registration. A history question answered with economics tools scores badly in both.
