    Environmental Sustainability

    A business approach that involves meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It considers the 'Triple Bottom Line': People, Planet, and Profit.

    The practice of making misleading or unsubstantiated claims about the environmental benefits of a product, service, or company policy to present a false image of environmental responsibility.

    Carbon Footprint

    The total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by a business's actions, products, or services, usually expressed in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

    A market-based 'cap and trade' system designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A central authority sets a cap on total emissions, and companies are allocated or can buy/sell emission allowances, creating a financial incentive to pollute less.
